About Feng Shui

Feng Shui (pronounced fung shway) is the Chinese art and science of placement that embraces the idea of living in harmony and balance by understanding energy and how it affects people. It is the study of how to arrange your environment to enhance your life.

The words 'Feng Shui' literally translate as 'wind and water', representing the two strongest forces in nature that shape our environment. Understanding the concept of Feng Shui is as simple as understanding these two elements of nature: Wind is the unseen force of nature, symbolizing the inner world of your thoughts, goals and feelings. Water is the visible force of nature, representing the outer world that surrounds you, including your home and workplace. The relationship between your inner world and outer environment is constantly creating and drawing life experiences to you. By acknowledging and working with this dynamic interaction between you and your surroundings, it is possible to take charge of creating the life you desire.

Like an acupuncturist who adjusts the flow of chi energy in the body with needles, a Feng Shui practitioner uses a variety of techniques to harness and redirect the flow of environmental chi in a space. This creates balance and brings good health and fortune by accessing the maximum amount of positive energy to all of life's pursuits.

Although Feng Shui originated in China, over the years many small changes were made to the system by drawing from learned cultures outside of China. One profound influence came from Tibet. The Black Hat Sect of Tibetan Tantric Buddism contributed many assets to the practice of Feng Shui. While it incorporates the visible factors in the environment, it has also introduced the invisible factors and the transcendental techniques and theories which are all invaluable today in transforming the chi of place. Black Hat Sect (BTB) Feng Shui also superimposes the eight trigrams from the I Ching (the Feng Shui Compass or Bagua) onto the home as a map to work on the appropriate energies of space.

Feng Shui is a system of controlling the energy of your environment by encouraging healthy energy and eliminating unhealthy energy from your surroundings. It is best known as a way to rearrange your home or office to help bring fresh energy to:

  • Increase your wealth
  • Enhance your relationships
  • Create more opportunities
  • Remove blocks to love and happiness
  • Improve your effectiveness
  • Support your wellness
  • Get unstuck
  • Gain more control over your circumstances
  • Improve your reputation

From the visible investigation comes the chi and shape of the land, shape of the house, floorplan of the house as well as interior and exterior factors represented in the home. The perspective of invisible relies on the Tibetan teachings that affect the energies of place, but invisible to the naked eye. The consideration for these rely on consciousness and intuition.
